SOA/FCD Precision Duty Barrel
Since we already had a working and personal relationship with FCD, one day we struck up the idea of, lets do this together. We know barrels, as we produce the most accurate competition and hunting rifles on the market and this is well documented. One important part in using rosco as the oem is that they are an all in house facility. They start from bar stock and do all of the processing in house. This is something that is not common for a lot of barrel brands.
The bars are annealed, quenched and tempered for strength and the ideal machining hardness.
Upon completion of cold forming rifling of the barrel, each barrel is subject to a stress relieving process.
The purpose of the stress relieving operation is to bring the barrel to the optimum temperature in a precise heating and cooling process that eliminates the inherent stress in the material after the cold forming rifling process. This process ensures that the barrel and bore remains straight with zero distortion during the final profiling and chamber machining processes/operations.
These duty barrels will come with a list of recommened spring and weights, something not really done on a large scale on the market today. We set out to design a barrel different than the market already offers. Using the correct material for accuracy (416R) while also offering better barrel life than a non coated stainless barrel. We were also set on mid-length gas systems, we have been using them for over 5 years now. We believe in a smooth and reliable gas system. Minimizing recoil and maintaining sights on target are of high priority for us. What good is a rifle you can't continue to hit what you are shooting at?
These barrels come in 11.5", 12.5", 13.9" and 14.5" Lengths, and are all mid-length gas systems. These will be offered in "suppressor optimized" gas ports for suppressor only use. We will also offer a "standard gas port"s for non suppressed use or a mix of both non suppressed and suppressed use, these will have specific buffer weights to ensure reliablity while suppressed with a high rate of fire.
SOA FCD barrels are shipped after they've been inspected and test fired with 3 rounds. The barrels are cleaned with 3 patches before shipping. Each barrel is also accompanied with an inspection check list, it's individually inspected for the following:
- Feed ramp for burs
- Chamber
- Rifling (with a bore scope)
- Gas port for burs
- Gas port size, with stated size
- Crown
- Muzzle threads
- SOA/FCD barrels went through such strenuous QC procedures, the rejection rate was high, but such are the standards SOA and FCD are demanding.
*If you plan to suppress one of the unsuppressed ported barrels, we recommend that you run atleast an H2 buffer in both carbine and A5 setups with the law tactical folder. If you do not run a Law Tactical folder we recommend you run an H3.
